How Can You Prevent Lint Build-Up in Your Vents?
Is cleaning out the lint trap enough? The short answer is "No". Think of the lint trap's main job as allowing air safely flow through to the fan motor. It does this by catching larger pieces of lint, strings, coins, candy wrappers and the occasionally lost sock. It does a good job, but only catches about 25% of the lint produced by a load of clothes.
You can also prevent lint build up through the following actions:
- Maintain vent covers
- Make sure vents are connected properly
- Schedule regular vent cleanings
Remove excess venting
Check clothing pockets for items
Clean and make sure your lint trap is properly installed
